Date Night

You may recall that my Christmas gift to Tom was a year of preplanned date nights, in an effort to spend more quality time together (because my blogging while he watches football isn't exactly the stuff marriages are made of). My pre-planned January date night got temporarily suspended because Tom was insistent that we rent The Hangover II. I was a little bummed about not being able to execute my fun date night (plus, I have issues with watching most any movie more than once--just one of my many charming attributes) but I made the best of it by planning a "Hangover II" themed date night instead.

We kicked the night off by making some green curry, since the movie takes place in Thailand. We put Libby to bed early and cooked dinner together, which we used to do all the time pre-baby.

After dinner, we played Hangover II Charades, inspired by one of the characters in the movie, a monk who has taken a vow of silence (Charades...vow of silence...get it?!?). The words we had to act out were all things from the movie.

After our game, we watched the movie and laughed just as much as we did during our first time seeing it (although we both agree that the first Hangover is better). During the movie, we played a Hangover drinking game, where we each had to take a drink of our beverage of choice each time the word "monkey" or "Bangkok" was said, and each time one of the characters screamed or got hit (these things happen a lot, if you're wondering).

By the time the movie was over (and we had consumed a sufficient amount of adult beverages), we played our last game, which I decided to call Magic Marker Tattoo Parlor. One of the the great moments in the movie is when one of the characters wakes up with a Mike Tyson-replica tattoo on his face. So, in our game we each had to draw a Mike Tyson inspired tattoo on the other person's face with magic marker. I think its safe to say that neither of us plan on getting the real thing any time soon.

The rest of the weekend was pretty normal--grocery store, Target and Kohl's runs in between cleaning and doing some other chores. This weekend we head to Virginia and we're looking forward to seeing everyone!
