I'm a bit behind, but Libby started preschool this year and we are so excited for her! She did the one morning/week toddler program at the school last year so it was a pretty easy transition. Not to mention that this girl was so ready for the real deal! I feel so lucky that we landed in a town that has a Montessori based cooperative preschool. Anyone who has ever talked early education with me know that I'm super passionate about low structure, play based, child centered learning in the preschool years. If there are letter worksheets and cutesy craft projects that all turn out the same, you're not the school for us. We're all about choice and play in the early years of "school," so Montessori totally fits the bill. I'm also on the board at Libby's school this year, which has been a great experience thus far. We've met so many great people at DCP and feel really lucky to have found it.
Back to Libby's first day, though. She did awesome! Miss AnnaMarie has reiterated pretty much every day how seamlessly Libby transitioned to the multiage classroom. She says Libby has no problem jumping in and playing, asking for help, etc. Libby loves to play with the "ballet magnets" and her best friend at school is Micah. She also talks about a little boy named Max a lot and tells us how silly he is. He's a year older and has surfer hair. Tom is concerned.
Here are the pictures from her first day--she wants to be a cheerleader when she grows up!
