The Other Libby

If I had a nickel for every time someone said, "She's so happy!" in regards to Libby, I would be at the spa right now instead of typing this blog post.

Most of the people who say this only see Libby on occasion, and to be fair, she is a pretty happy kid. But unless you're around her a lot, you wouldn't know that she has another side to that sweet, cheerful personality of hers. And its not pretty.

Most recently, she has taken to hitting me when she's frustrated, which is what landed her in time out a couple weeks ago. For anyone who rolls their eyes when I say that Libby has her moments, here is your proof.

As far as what Libby is up to these days, at 16 months, Libby...
  • Loves animals, especially cows and dogs
  • Knows tons of animal sounds
  • Can point to and name family members from photos
  • Knows more words than we usually realize and repeats everything we say
  • Can say some two-word phrases (namely "No no Bauer" and "Thank you Mama")
  • Can climb stairs with help
  • Can sing some parts of "The Wheels on the Bus"
  • Loves Minnie Mouse and will request to wear her Minnie Mouse shirts most days
  • Loves to look at books and be read to (favorites are Sandra Boynton books, Good Night Gorilla, The Escape of Marvin the Ape and anything with animals)
  • Loves to swing (will laugh hysterically and say "Weeeee!")
  • Uses a fork and spoon with help
  • Loves crackers, fruit and milk. Refuses vegetables.
  • Loves the bath but hates having her hair rinsed
  • Sleeps 12 hours a night (7:30 pm - 7:30 am, sometimes later)
  • Takes 1 afternoon nap a day
  • Takes Bunny everywhere with her
