Destination: Summer Vacay

Summer was on the brain, so I got busy looking into our one year anniversary/summer vacation trip. Yes, money is tight, but what is the point of being a teacher if you don't take advantage of your summers off? Plus, you only get one one-year anniversary, so it had to be done. We debated between Savannah and Charleston (both have beaches, southern charm and are within driving distance) and ultimately decided on Charleston, mainly because Tom only goes places that have beer and sports, and Charleston offers brewery tours and a minor league baseball team.

We decided to find a place that we could bring the dogs so that we could save on boarding expenses. Plus, we are creepy dog people who like to involve our dogs in every aspect of our lives. So, we began the search on vrbo.com (be proud, Grandma). We quickly realized that vacation rentals are apparently a bit more expensive than staying in Holly's basement in Woodbridge, VA (the destination of our previous romantic getaways). So, after we recovered from the shock, we settled on this charming closet...I mean cottage... in Folly Beach. Before you take a look at the photos, please get the appropriate visual in your head... me, carrying approximately 43 pounds worth of toiletries; Tom, carrying approximately 107 pounds of beer so that he can survive a whole 4 days in this mess; Bauer, running circles at approximately 64 miles per hour; and Scarlet, jumping up, crawling over and running into anything in her path...

Vacation Destination 2010

Anyone want to join in on the fun? Looks like there's plenty of room for everyone.

  1. I love the Enchanted Cottage by the Sea! It reminds me of our Chatham vacation cottage. I'm glad you're not letting money stand in the way of vacation time. As Aunt Holly would say, you're creating memories!
